Pigs cause chaos on Austrian motorway

Nearly 200 pigs escaped onto a busy motorway in Austria after the lorry carrying them turned over.

It’s reported the driver lost control of the vehicle after skidding in heavy rain on the A9 motorway near Rottenmann.

Many of the animals had already made a break for freedom and were running down the motorway by the time rescue services arrived.

Firemen later managed to catch the majority of the pigs but some remained at large.

Frustrated drivers were forced to watch the spectacle from their cars in the two-hour traffic jam caused by the accident.
